It’s all about mean muggin’ to a really tight riff. With an appetite for no-holds barred rock and roll, Shadow of Everest are strongly aligned with such massive artists as Tool, Black Sabbath, Mastodon and Pink Floyd. Heavy progressions and syncopated rhythms are accompanied by dissonant tones and powerful, haunting vocals. Formed in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2014, the band’s membership consists of guitarist/vocalist John Vriend, bassist Shaun Cowell, drummer Matt Burton and guitarist Andrew Welsman. Shadow of Everest is four musicians with a fondness for writing bareknuckle rock songs loaded with big riffs, addictive melodies and unexpected transitions.
